The virtual keynote address is delivered by Soul Fire Farm’s Co-Founder and Farm Manager, Leah Penniman, and closes with a performance by world-renowned poet, Soul Fire Farm’s Program Manager, Naima Penniman. The keynote storytelling weaves the history and structural realities of racial injustice in the food system, with movement strategies past and present of frontlines communities mobilizing for food and land sovereignty. The virtual keynote will be followed by a live Q&A with Soul Fire Farm’s Food Justice Coordinator and Kitchen Magician, Brooke Bridges. Learn how we can help build a food system based on justice, dignity, and abundance for all members of our local and global community.

Sacred People Sacred Earth
Thursday, March 11 | Online and Washington, DC

On March 11, UU Ministry For Earth, UUs for Social Justice and Interfaith Power & Light, supported by many faith groups, will be joining the largest-ever multi-faith grassroots global Sacred People Sacred Earth Day of Action for climate justice, put forth by GreenFaith.
UUs and partners will gather at the Washington Monument to sound the alarm with bells, gongs, and horns, showing that people of faith are rising up for bold, compassionate solutions on climate change. Participants will urge elected representatives to heed the Ten Demands and will draw attention to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. In particular, this action will center Demand #4 to respect Indigenous rights by stopping the Line 3 tar sands pipeline, as well as support for just contributions to climate financing from wealthier countries (demand #9) by accelerating U.S. commitments to the Green Climate Fund.
