Social Justice is a cornerstone of our Unitarian Universalist faith and a driving force in our church.

Our Sunday worship services focus on faith, often pointing to social justice and action.

We support groups in our community, offering space for their gatherings, showing up at their events to learn and make support visible.
Each month, we donate our full Sunday worship collections to a community group.

At the January 27, Vigil for ICE victims, the Governor, Mayor, Speaker of the House, numerous senators, representatives and clergy stood strong to ensure that our community of Aloha is not disrupted by these forces. First Unitarian Church showed up in force. See Social Action leaders Francine Less and Marie Anne meeting Gov. Josh Green afterwards. See also Gov. Josh sharing with Rev. Deborah that his parents were married in a UU church!

On January 20, we hosted the ACLU of Hawai‘i conversation about collective resistance in the face of increasing attacks on our democracy and civil rights. Emily Hills, ACLU Senior Staff Attorney tackled questions such as:
What can we do to resist the rise of a dictatorship?
What must be protected to prevent democratic backsliding?
How can we stay safe in a system that increasingly punishes dissent?
