Remembering David Friedman

David Friedman, consummate artist, loving husband of Joan Schumacher, and attentive friend to many of us, suddenly died on Friday.

David’s glorious color paintings hang in galleries and homes across the country, including many of our homes, and also in this church where David served as president of the gallery for years.

The medical team described his sudden death as “natural” – probably a heart attack.

The world will be very different for Joan who lived in close partnership with David and who relied on his steadfast daily care and love. Without David, life will be different for many of us who enjoyed active ongoing conversation with him on art, politics, technology and the future.

  1. I will miss David Friedman’s presence at church, and offer my sympathy to Joan. David was a talented and active artist, and contributed much to our gallery at the church. Sorry to see him go so soon. Aloha, Helen
