First Unitarian Church of Honolulu

The days are shorter, the nights are longer and this Winter ritual helps remind humankind of our ability to bring our own light into darker times.

The Winter Spiral will take place Friday evening, December 5th, 6:00-8:00pm at First Unitarian Church of Honolulu.

Here are some helpful things to know…

*Two times are offered:  6:00-6:50, and 7:00-7:50. You may come and go at any time during the session or stay throughout.

*Children are welcome.  Young children should be accompanied by an adult when walking the spiral.

*Please honor the quietness of the space.

*Because there will be open flames we suggest that long hair be tied back and that you avoid loose, billowy clothing.

A spiral of greenery will be laid out on the floor of the quiet, darkened sanctuary.  At the center a lit candle is placed, and each person is invited to make their way through the spiral to the center, carrying an unlit candle.  When the center candle is reached they light their own candle off of the central candle and then place it somewhere along the spiral as they make their way back out.
