August 19, 2026 Minister’s Message
Aloha mai kakou!
Mahalo i ke Akua, ua hala aku ka makani pāhili.
Thank God the hurricane has passed.

Power off, trees down; we are grateful to be safe.
Others are struggling with devastated houses and communities.
O‘ahu emergency services and HECO have been working to restore service and order.
We are grateful and attentive to what we can do to reduce suffering in the areas most severely hit.
In the midst of danger and loss,
We see the power and beauty of our natural world.
And the importance of community and kindness.
Hats off to our many ingenious friends who found solutions to challenges.
Salutes to stores that kept doors open with no lights.
To HECO workers laboring through the night to bring back our power.
Times like this show the Hawaiian soul matching the devastating beauty and power of our environs.
I am grateful to be back before it hit.
To be here with you through the storm
And for what lies ahead,
Our work together to protect and support those in our congregation and our larger community.
Sunday we will address courage again.
As you and we all do continuously.
Mahalo for all you do,
Rev. Deborah
