Black Lives UU: So Many Ways to Connect

October 2026

October Worship: “Wholeness is No Trifling Matter”

Led by Rev. Dr. Jamie Eaddy, October’s worship service will center around grief.

Rev. Dr. Jamie Eaddy is a womanist pastoral theologian, thanatologist, clinically trained chaplain, grief doula, author, and poet committed to justice-rooted care. Founder of Thoughtful Transitions, LLC and The Ratchet Grief Project®, she guides communities, especially those whose grief has been marginalized, in befriending grief and lament as sacred, liberating, and generative spiritual practices.

Black Sacred Space:

BLUU’s online worship services are Black Sacred Space in their entirety — by and for Black people, with the words and voices of Black folks across the diaspora — and we hope that Black UUs and Black UU-adjacent folks (who share our values) from far and wide will join us!

For our non-Black siblings in faith, please DO share this invitation with Black folks in your life and community. Getting the word out about BLUU’s gatherings and other programming is one powerful way of lending your support, and we deeply appreciate it!

In BLUU worship we honor the plurality of BlaQ Lives; knowing that wisdom is found in many places and paths. BLUU Worship is a sacred communal space where we practice radical vulnerability and radical companionship with one another. In BLUU worship, we simultaneously rehearse the world we desire and conjure that reality into the here and now. It is within the sacred space of this communal ritual that we reach through space and time and find the resources we need to transform misery and mystery into thriving possibilities.

Meet Us by the Fire: Campfire Tales

For October’s Meet Us by the Fire, we’re bringing you “Campfire Tales.” We invite you to join us in Black sacred space as we gather around our virtual fire for a unique storytelling experience — featuring a special audio/video recording of an African-American (Hoodoo) folktale — followed by a group discussion. We’ll announce the feature story at the event…we don’t want to spoil the surprise. :)

About Meet Us by the Fire: Meet Us by the Fire is a new BLUU series that honors the ancient tradition of gathering around the fire for warmth, storytelling, and community. This series inspires us to think creatively and strategically about what it’ll take for us to survive and thrive together. Featuring an open-mic element, community members are invited to join us by our virtual fire to share their creativity in Black sacred space.

Playground Chronicles

Playground Chronicles is back!

Part Two of Playground Chronicles invites us deeper into the practice of play. Together, we will explore play as a source of spiritual pleasure and a spiritual discipline, play games, share stories, and co-create a Playbox that nurtures joy, connection, and healing.

Support BLUU

Since our inception, BLUU has been a beacon for Black people seeking liberation and a deep, inclusive spirituality that honors their lived experiences. We want to continue to be a beacon, but we need your help to do so.

Donations from our UU community and aligned friends support programming, spiritual care, and advances social justice initiatives. BLUU provides spaces for Black folks to feel more connected, allowing us to collectively imagine more possibilities. BLUU Beloveds find strength to fight the systems of oppression and collectively work with our UU community to change them. We also work in solidarity with other marginalized groups across the world; we know none of us are free until we’re all free.

Will you support our efforts by donating today?

A gentle reminder that we offer pastoral care. Please call or text our pastoral care line at 984-219-8710 to arrange a time that works for you. We are grateful for your life and will be honored to be on the journey with you.

Pastoral care is a model of emotional and spiritual support that can be found in all cultures and traditions. People who provide pastoral care offer support to people in their joys, sorrows, and uncertainties associated with specific life events occurring while part of the community in which pastoral caregivers serve. Spiritual care is a multi-faceted model of support in individuals’ search for meaning, purpose, wholeness, and connection in day-to-day life.
