Marjorie Bowens-Wheatley Scholarship Program Application

The Scholarship:

The purpose of the Marjorie Bowens-Wheatley scholarship is to help ease the financial burden associated with this pursuit, and to build a network of BIPOC UU religious professionals who are committed to social justice as a cornerstone of their ministry.

Who Can Apply:

The Marjorie Bowens-Wheatley Scholarship Program provides financial support to BIPOC women and gender-expansive people who are on a path to becoming religious professionals within the UU faith.

Scholarships are awarded based on these elements:

A clear path for ministry journey in Unitarian Universalism
A commitment to explicitly lifting up the intersectionality of UU principles and justice work
A commitment to community-building as a key component of ministry

We’re excited to announce an upcoming Author Talk featuring Shane Burley and Ben Lorber, authors of Safety Through Solidarity: A Radical Guide to Fighting Antisemitism. In this timely conversation, Burley and Lorber will explore the vital intersection of antisemitism and broader social justice movements, offering a fresh perspective on building solidarity in the fight against oppression.

This event is co-hosted by several Unitarian Universalist justice groups, including UUJME, BLUU, DRUUMM, UU Women, and more. Join us for this powerful discussion on how we can collectively work toward a future free from antisemitism and all forms of hatred.

Showing up this year is about forwarding our values, expanding our democracy, and changing the material conditions of our communities. UU the Vote 2024 is an ambitious strategy to grow a powerful pro-democracy majority.
