Is there life after death? This is one of the great mysteries of human existence. Most, if not all, human cultures respond to this mystery through story. According to ancient Mexican tradition, the dead cross over from the Land of the Living to the Land of the Dead. On one day each year, el DĂa de Muertos, the dead can visit the Land of the Living to be with their surviving descendants. But they can only do so as long as at least one descendant holds a living memory of the ancestor. In this service, we will honor the memories of our beloved dead by placing photos and memorabilia on a traditional, albeit simplified, Ofrenda (altar).
