Attached you will find the official minutes of our Church’s Annual Meeting which was held on Sunday, June 23, after the service. But I thought, as your newsletter editor, that I would highlight the 2 major votes.
- We have an entirely new Board of Directors (except for Karen Fothergill who moved from Director to Secretary). Sue Yamane-Carpenter is now the Board President. As you may know, Sue has been our fearless bookkeeper for way too long and has finally found someone to pass the baton to — Jim Wood. Jim is a new member — this time — but he was a long time member from the 60’s to the 80’s. So he is very familiar with our church — plus he is CPA — and very capable.
Joining Sue is myself, Catherine Graham, as VP, Karen Fothergill as Secretary, and Dave Hafner as Treasurer. Our new directors are Juliet Begley, Richard Valasek and Jim Wood.
This Board is committed to transparency and inclusion.
- The Proposed Budget with a deficit of $91,000 did NOT receive the required 2/3 majority. The vote was just short at 32 in favor and 18 against. Mary MacKay luckily was prepared for such an outcome and moved that we work with the proposed budget for 6 months while the Board tweaks the money to present a more balanced budget. This means that Rev. Dr. Greg is on board for the next 6 months as our minister and RE Director. The Board will be working with him on what that means and how that can work. But any ideas you may have are welcomed.
