Pledge Drive Has Begun!

What a great start! We are thrilled to announce that 29 pledges were received at the April 4 pledge dinner for a total of $71,183! This is 64% of our pledge drive goal of $111,000. The theme of the evening, the magic of generosity, certainly inspired you to open your pocketbooks.

We will continue to reach out to those of you who have not pledged yet throughout the month of April. We will have pledge forms ready at church for you to fill out and place in the collection plate. Mahalo nui loa for demonstrating your faith in our church and sharing your financial resources with our community.

Townhall Meeting April 11, 11:30am

Let’s talk about the church frontage! The schefflera hedge was removed last week. No longer can we hide behind the privacy of the hedge. Our beautiful home is now in full view of those traveling on the Pali Highway. The hedge also served as a safety barrier to keep us from driving off the edge of the property to the sidewalk below.

With the hedge gone, we may all feel a greater necessity to make our parking area safe. We have erected temporary caution tape and plan to follow up with a temporary wheel guard that will prevent a car from traveling forward over the stumps. But do we need fencing or a low wall to make it safer and to give the frontage a stronger sense of beauty and completion while we await landscaping?

The next step, poisoning the stumps to prepare the area for new plantings, will happen next week. We can’t plant for at least 6 months to a year from now. What will we plant, and how long will it take to establish a new hedge or landscape vegetation?

And there is the issue of signage! The hedge removal has exposed the terrible condition of the signage. It is unsafe and needs to come down and replaced. All of this work takes volunteers. Come to the meeting prepared to offer your help.
