Civil Rights in the Next250

On July 30, community members gathered at the Hawaiʻi State Library for Civil Rights in the Next250, connecting Hawaiʻi’s movement for justice to a broader national effort to envision a more just future. Local advocates shared work on climate justice, reproductive freedom, voting rights, economic justice, and community safety, while attendees reflected on their hopes for Hawaiʻi through interactive activities. The event also highlighted the Declaration of Interdependence, a call to build a future rooted in dignity, safety, shared power, environmental stewardship, and collective action. Mahalo to everyone who shared their vision and continues to build a more just Hawaiʻi. Learn more here.

Mālama Mākua Film Screening

On August 1, community members gathered for a special screening of Mālama Mākua, highlighting the decades-long movement to protect and restore the sacred lands of Mākua Valley from military use.

The screening sparked conversation about Native Hawaiian rights, environmental justice, civil liberties, and community advocacy. Mahalo to everyone who joined us and continues this important work.
