This is the final service with our Minister in Residence, Arman Pedro from the Unitarian Universalist Church of the Philippines. Arman has recently finished his MA at Meadville-Lombard Theological School. Â The School’s mission is to educate students in the Unitarian Universalist tradition to embody liberal religious ministry in Unitarian Universalist congregations and wherever else they are called to serve. Â Â Arman has been a lay leader in his church for 12 years and now serves as the Administrator for the UU Church of the Philippines. Â Arman will continue speaking about the importance of establishing relationships with other churches, including our own Partner Church in Caican, Negros Oriental.
This Sunday Arman will be answering the questions, “Who we are as Filipino Unitarian Universalists? Culturally,  when people ask us about our religious identity about our we have difficulty articulating our faith and people sometimes labeled us as heretics or cults. And this is important also for other Unitarian Universalists to understand who we are theologically and where we come from.  How do we define diversity from our lense?  What are our struggles and how do we address them?”
After the service there will be a special lunch provided by members of our congregation will share their favorite Filipino dishes. There will be pancit, several versions of chicken adobo and various vegetarian delights. Following the lunch Arman will be leading a workshop.
We will also be bidding fond aloha and blessings in their journey to the Gillis-Davis family who will be responding to opportunities on the mainland.
