If Courage names our inner stance, and Islands of Sanity and Radical Kindness name our communal work, what vocation emerges for us now? Margaret Wheatley speaks of “warriors for the human spirit”— people who put service over self, stand steadfast through disappointment, and protect spaces where generosity, creativity, and community can flourish. In the light of Tillich’s courage, Hawaiʻi’s history, and our own commitments, we will consider how this congregation might live as warriors for the human spirit: not to save the whole world, but to guard and grow those places where human dignity, aloha, and hope still take root.
