Book Group Selections for September and October

08/26/2026/by Mary MacKay

Did you know we have a Book Group?

The UU-HNL “Page Turners” meet on Zoom the 2nd Wednesdays of each month from 4:00 – 5:30 pm.  We read a wide selection of both fiction and non-fiction with the requirement that the book either be available in the library or very inexpensive used. To join our zoom discussion email James Skouge.

Selections for coming months:

SEPTEMBER 9, 2026 (2nd Wed of month)

“The Body: A Guide for Occupants,” by Bill Bryson

Bill guides us through the human body — how it functions, its remarkable ability to heal itself, and (unfortunately) the ways it can fail. Full of extraordinary facts (your body made a million red blood cells since you started reading this) and irresistible Bryson-esque anecdotes, The Body will lead you to a deeper understanding of the miracle that is life in general and you in particular.

OCTOBER 14, 2026 (2nd Wed of month)

“Bad Luck and Trouble,” by Lee Child

Reacher is the ultimate loner, but Frances Neagley, a woman from his old military unit, has found him using a signal only the members of their elite team would know. Soon Reacher is reuniting with the survivors of his team – because in a world of bad luck and trouble, when someone targets Jack Reacher and his team, they’d better be ready for what comes right back at them.  An “action-packed thrill ride” (Chicago Sun-Times).  # 11 in the NYT bestselling Jack Reacher series.
