Last week we highlighted three impactful Meet the Moment Wave Cohorts coming to General Assembly 2026. This week, we’re sharing three more opportunities to engage deeply with some of the questions facing our faith communities right now, from multigenerational worship and parenting in uncertain times to building sustainable congregational staffing models.
Multigenerational Worship: Connection to Spirituality, Identity & Each Other
🎤 Facilitated by Rev. Mykal Slack and Adena Dannouf
Virtual, on Zoom, open to all
In a world of uncertainty, worship is the space where many find time to recharge and refill their spirit. Worship is also often the space where Unitarian Universalists of many ages learn to be UUs. Offering meaningful worship for people of all ages and abilities requires more than just saying “All are welcome.” It calls us to shape those spaces to be welcoming by examining the elements and purposes of worship in new ways. Join this exploration of worship and how to connect all ages to their own spirituality, to our faith as a whole, and to one another.
Raising Children in the Midst of Collapse
🎤 Facilitated by Rev. Sara Goodman and Taylor Giordano
Virtual, on Zoom, open to all
Parents, and other folks who help raise children and youth, are in a tough spot right now. Trying to balance teaching our young people about world events, and how to navigate the world grounded in Unitarian Universalist values, while also wanting to shield them from the horrors that surround us. How can we meet the moment in striking the right balance of preparation for the future without scarring them for life?
Staffing Sustainably and Faithfully
🎤 Facilitated by Jan Gartner
Virtual, on Zoom, open to all
Many congregations are facing the challenge of aligning their mission, priorities, and staffing with their financial realities. This Wave Cohort is for leaders who are eager to explore creative, values-driven approaches to finding sustainable models. We’ll delve into staffing history, trends, leadership frameworks, and the complex choices facing congregations today. Explore options, imagine “small bet” experiments, and learn from one another’s experiences. While much of our focus will be on financial sustainability, we’ll also consider sustainability for humans, including work/life balance, reasonable job scopes, manageable volunteer responsibilities, and backup plans.
