Submit an Action of Immediate Witness for General Assembly 2026
![]() |
| The process for submitting AIWs is beginning!! This is an exciting time in our tradition, where congregations can participate in the work of justice, bringing in the passions and concerns of congregations across the country.
The timeline for submitting an AIW is between March 23rd and April 24th. The sooner the Commission on Social Witness receives the submission, the more time for feedback and revisions. There will be online presentations of the submitted AIWs May 17-23rd. More information here. |
| What is an AIW?
An Action of Immediate Witness (AIW) is a statement about a significant action, event, or development in the world that necessitates immediate engagement and action among UU member congregations and groups. An AIW does not carry the full authority of the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA); rather, it expresses the conscience and carries the authority of the delegates at the GA at which it is passed. The AIW process allows Unitarian Universalists to respond quickly to social issues deemed urgent. Adopted AIWs are used by congregations in local efforts and empower them to take action and recommend action through other departments of the UUA and other Unitarian Universalist groups. We look forward to a robust and invigorating time to discuss the concerns of our faith! Find everything you need to submit a draft AIW here. Blessings, Rev. Nancy Reid-McKee |
