On Monday, November 1, 2021 from 6 – 7:30pm, the Honolulu Police Commission Task Force is sponsoring a panel of representatives and advocates of diverse marginalized communities to discuss what is needed from the next Honolulu Police Chief.
Moderator: Carol Ann Carl: A Micronesian advocate and activist, Carol Ann currently is a Grant Writer at Kokua Kalihi Valley, a nonprofit community health center. Carol Ann’s community work revolves around Micronesian youth and women.
Panelists:
Innocenta Sound-Kikku: Co-founder and co-convener of the Micronesina Health Advisory Coalition and the Micronesian Minister’s Uut, Innocenta is an experienced health navigator for the Chuukese community here in Hawaii. Her background includes experience working with domestic violence as a law enforcement officer on the island of Saipan in Micronesia. She is also a gifted writer, certified medical interpreter, and respected Micronesian community leader/organizer in Hawaii.
Lesley Gabrielle: A dedicated community organizer and activist focused on social justice through collective action, Lesley regularly organizes efforts to bring attention, and change, to issues impacting the community.
Soon Kim: Guided by the principle of “autonomy first,” Soon participates in mutual aid by engaging with the unhoused community. Through collective engagement, short-term needs can be identified and met, long-term goals are created and pursued, and life-long relationships are built.
