Unitarian Universalist Partnership during COVID-19

Dear Members and Friends,
We invite you to take this time of physical separation to reflect and connect further within your congregation and with UU’s around the world, especially your partner churches.
We also invite you to help put together our September UUPCC newsletter. Please share 2-3 sentences about what your church is doing to maintain and enhance your partnerships and we’ll include it in the Sept. newsletter.
Here’s an example from First Parish Concord:
“We are holding quarterly Zoom meetings to check in and offer support. (Partner church minister) will preach virtually on Sunday, September 27 on Transylvanian Thanksgiving. And we are talking about doing something fun together–a variety show, a cooking exchange, or a virtual tour of our towns.”
Email a short overview of your partnership activities along with your name and church name to: office@uupcc.org no later than Sept 7th.
Below are more opportunities to interact from the UUA International Office. However you are connecting, the UUPCC is here to support you.
Be well and safe,
Rev. Fred Muir

Unitarian/Universalism’s Colonial Legacy: Are we an imperial faith?

5-session webinar series | Thur. September 10 – Thur. October 8, 2020
This fall, the International Unitarian/Universalist Joint Working Group (Unitarian Universalist Association International Office, the International Council of Unitarians and Universalists, and the UU Partner Church Council) will host a five-part webinar series that poses the question: Are we an imperial faith? We invite you to join us to explore how we might respond to this question and its implications. The webinar series will be held via Zoom on Thursdays from 7:30 – 9:00 PM Eastern between September 10 through October 8, 2020. Participation is limited to 25 people; register ASAP before it fills up.

Human Rights Discussion in Your Congregation

Discussion guide for Adult RE or Social Justice group
The UUA’s International Office has created a resource for congregations to discuss cross-cultural engagement and the role of identity in organizing for justice. The resource includes stories from our work with justice partners in India, provoking congregants to reflect on themes like identity and privilege, trust, cultural difference, relationship-building, and human rights. This guide for a 75-minute online discussion would work well as an Adult Religious Education program or even as an opportunity for a congregation’s Religious Education program to partner with their Social Justice leaders to hold a reflective and inspiring online discussion.

UU@UN Intergenerational Spring Seminar

Online program runs April 9-11, 2021 (Planning begins Sept 2020)
The UU@UN’s annual Intergenerational Spring Seminar in April offers participants the chance to learn about an issue of global concern and how individuals, congregations, and communities can make a difference. The 2021 Seminar will take place virtually, April 9-11, on the theme of climate and food justice. Youth and adults are invited to join the leadership team to make the Seminar an inclusive community and a profound and meaningful experience for all. Applications for youth and adults are due by August 20 to serve on the Planning Committee or Chaplain Team. The UU@UN is working on providing volunteer stipends to recognize the commitment that Planning Committee members put in, in lieu of the benefits that come during an in-person event. Learn about the Intergenerational Spring Seminar and about open volunteer positions.
