UUPCC Membership Meeting

Notice of UUPCC Membership Meeting

Tuesday, January 19th, 2021

5pm PST / 8pm EST

Dear UUPCC Members and Supporters,

In September’s UUPCC newsletter we shared “A New Vision” report https://uupcc.org/sites/default/files/a_new_vision_iuucg_report-proposal_2020.pdf from the International U/U Collaboration Group. This document was approved by both the UUPCC Board and International Council of U/Us (ICUU) Executive Committee.

As stated in that report, the future of U/U international collaboration points toward the creation of a new organization that will more effectively embody the values we share with the International Council of Unitarians and Universalists (ICUU).

We found three common areas of focus:

1. Broaden the meaning of partnership
2. Train lay and professional leaders
3. Support and empower existing and emerging groups

The UUPCC held two open discussion meetings on September 15th for feedback and discussion on this report. We are grateful for your participation and have carried your ideas, concerns, and encouragement forward in our deliberations.

At the (virtual) ICUU business meeting on October 29, their members voted to approve the proposal moving forward. Now it is time for the UUPCC membership to do the same.

The upcoming meeting on Tuesday, January 19 will include discussion and one business item: a membership vote to officially approve moving forward with the proposal to combine the two organizations into a new entity. The Zoom meeting information is below.

All members of the UUPCC are invited to participate and vote in these online meetings. Members are those individuals who have paid Membership Dues and/or given a financial gift to the UUPCC in 2019 or 2020.

The UUPCC Board urges our members to support the recommendation of the international collaboration group which calls for the creation of a new collaborative international Unitarian/Universalist organization.

The collaboration team continues to engage in thoughtful discussion of the shape and specifics of this new organization. You will be invited to more open conversations in the coming months as we envision this new path together. At the end of the discussions, there will be another membership meeting to officially vote on the next evolution of the UUPCC. For example, one possibility is that the UUPCC and ICUU may legally dissolve (in accordance with UUPCC’s governing documents and the laws of the State of Washington where UUPCC is incorporated) and create a new organization altogether.

Thank you for your ongoing commitment and support of our shared future. We look forward to seeing you online on January 19th. Please contact us at office@uupcc.org if you have questions.

In faith & partnership,

Rev. Morgan McLean, UUPCC Board Chair

Rev. John Gibbons, former UUPCC Board member
Rev. Fred Muir, UUPCC Interim Executive Director
