FROM THE UUMFE TEAM
Dear UU Ministry for Earth Community –
One of the big take-aways of the UU Climate Justice Revival is that climate work is intersectional! I loved watching congregations across the land gather teams together to do the Revival – not just climate and green teams but also social justice teams, strategic planning teams, Boards, worship and religious education teams. So there was intersectionality happening inside congregations.
Additionally, we considered ways in which climate justice is intersectional outside the congregation, in our communities. We discovered that climate justice is also racial justice, immigration justice, disability, economic, gender, housing, LGBTQAI+ justice, and more.
As UU Ministry for Earth celebrates the Winter Solstice this year, the theme of the Revival continues, and we enter into a a spiritually grounded, justice centered practice to engage with the intersectionality of climate justice and disability justice.
It is a religious practice for Unitarian Universalists to act locally, regionally and globally.
On this particular evening (December 19th), we will celebrate the work of the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee (UUSC) and their partner, Te Toa Matoa (TTM) in Kiribati. This collaboration focuses on empowering marginalized communities, particularly those with disabilities, to advocate for their rights and inclusion in climate policies.
On December 19th, there will be a call to action to practice solidarity together.
And there will be time to honor the dark while we welcome the light.
Please join us. The details and registration links are below. The Longest Night awaits you.
Warmly,
Rev. Kelly Dignan

Include UUMFE in Your Year-End Giving
What is the value of UUMFE’s work in the climate justice movement? We can answer this question through the lens of Deepa Iyer’s Social Change Ecosystem Framework. UUMFE’s climate justice leaders embody diverse roles as:Â
Weavers who facilitate coalitions and co-create within ecosystems;
Builders who organize programs, projects, and coalitions toward a shared vision; and
Healers who nurture the ecosystem, offering tools and practices for transformation.
We invite you to answer our call to be an active partner with UUMFE in this essential work. You can give here!Â
Welcome Audrey McCann
Audrey has joined the UUMFE team as our Communications Coordinator! She is a UU seminarian living in Minneapolis.
The longest night of the year is a time we drop into stillness, honor the dark, release the pain and struggle of life. We also embrace the light of strength and courage. This year, UU Ministry for Earth (UUMFE) partners with the UU Service Committee (UUSC) and UU College of Social Justice (UUCSJ) to bring you worship, artistic expression, and stories from partners in Kiribati where climate justice is culture justice and disability justice.
Our guest speaker is Rev. Manish Mishra-Marzetti, UUSC Board of Trustees Co-Chair and Senior Minister of the First Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Ann Arbor, Michigan.
During the service, we will collect an offering which will be shared between UU Ministry for Earth and UUSC’s partner Te Toa Matoa in Kiribati.
So that you can engage in artistic expression, bring with you:
Paper (blank, any size)
Pencils and erasers
Markers, colored pencils, or crayons
Optional: Gel pens, paint, or other art materials for added detail
Thanks to the Side With Love’s Climate Justice Campaign for financial support of this event.Â
