This year is the fiftieth  anniversary of the Stonewall Rebellion, the event that marked the beginning of  the fight to end oppression against Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender people. Ms. Polcovar’s play, is based on eyewitness accounts of that night. The Rebellion was a spontaneous uprising of ordinary people one hot late night in June. STONEWALL STORIES tells the story of that night, through the voices of the people there. Playwright and political activist Carol Polcovar spent two years interviewing participants in and eyewitnesses of the events on the evening of June 27, 1969. Originally staged in New York City in 2006, STONEWALL STORIES  was named Best Docudrama of that Festival Season by TalkinBroadway.com and Theatermania.com.  It was also staged more recently at PlayBuilders here in Honolulu directed by Miles Philips.
