Remembering Marde McHenry - Archived

It is with the greatest sadness that I announce to you the passing of Marde McHenry.

She had only been with us since last August but she is a prime example of how to become an integral part of a new community in record time.

You will recognize her as a twice-a-month parking assistant.  She joined a chalice circle, the Social Art as the New Cathedral group, became a new UU member and was an active participant in the monthly book group.  She will be missed by many of us.

She was a secondary school science educator moving here from Cincinnati to start a new life.

As we have been able to piece together, she had a difficult family of origin and major health issues – but her focus was on being positive and not letting her troubles inform her present.

We don’t know exactly how or why she died – but we do know that she touched many of us with her bright smile and happy energy.  She was 44 years old and her passing leaves a great hole in the lives of many of us in this congregation.  Rev. Dr. Greg has been in touch with her family.

Thank you, Marde, for sharing your bright spirit with us these past 8 months.
