Project G.I.R.L.(Girls Impacting Real Life) is a student formed organization determined to end period poverty. We want women, trans males, and non-binaries experiencing homelessness to obtain clean feminine products not only in their day-to-day life but especially during their menstruation cycle. Having unsanitary products and undergarments can lead to many health concerns and diseases. We believe menstrual hygiene products should be available to all regardless of social class, economic status, and race as they are another added expense in every menstruator’s life.
This event is a “drive through, contactless” drop off. Cars can come by to drop off their donations in the box provided and leave. For the safety of everyone at this event, all volunteers will be wearing a mask. We will also have wipes and sanitizer available for the volunteers. We will be using surface wipes to sanitize all the donations once the drive has finished and all products have been received. Volunteers will stay 6 feet apart away from the cars unless the people donating request help from volunteers to take the donations.
The Social Justice Council is hosting Project G.I.R.L, a student organization, and Ma’i Movement, a local nonprofit, both dedicated to ending period poverty in Hawai’i one pad at a time. Project Girl wants women, trans males, and non-binaries experiencing homelessness to obtain clean feminine products whenever it is needed. Students from Project Girl will hold a socially distanced, contactless drive thru event right HERE at our church! On Saturday, April 17th from 10:30am to 12:30 pm please bring menstrual hygiene items such as pads, tampons, and menstrual cups in support of this great cause.
