Journeys of Deeper Joy 
A multi-generational UU Role Playing Game at Regional Assembly!? 
Yes, it’s true! When you join us for Regional Assembly, April 10-12, 2026, Sacramento, CA and online you can be part of an amazing new UU multigenerational role playing game, Journeys of Deeper Joy, with our fabulous guide, Mylo Way!
Journeys of Deeper Joy is a brand-new role playing game developed by UU religious professional Ember Oak Kelley for use in all kinds of congregational and camp settings. At our Regional Assembly, Ember’s colleague Mylo Way from the UUA’s Lifespan Faith Engagement office will guide your journey to “Covenentia” in this tabletop game that builds UU values and teaches skills for genuine community building.
There will be three opportunities to engage in Journeys at our Regional Assembly:
  • For those gathered in-person and virtually, on Friday evening (Pacific time) we’ll have a dinnertime session for each person to develop their own unique character. It’s a great first step for approaching this game and requires no previous role-playing game experience. While we’re creating the characters, we will ALSO be exploring what this might mean as avatars in the world, what characters we might create as we’re navigating the world. Who we are, how we show up in spaces to build the beloved community. It will be fun and silly and deep and profound.
  • On Saturday, the in-person folks will have a chance to journey together in the morning, when the RA program schedule is light.
  • And in the afternoon (Pacific Time) on Saturday, the online folks will have a chance to journey together. (The game is wonderful online or in-person, but doesn’t lend itself to in-person and online simultaneous play.)
When we journey together, we will gather with the characters we’ve created (or a pre-fabricated character if you prefer)! We will be introduced to the game system, and the story. We will break out into “away missions” to have our own experiences and play the game. (We will explore what it is to be in community, together). And then we will gather and share our experiences with each other.
