January 23, 2022 ADORE (A Dialogue On Race and Ethnicity), 11:30am-1:30pm Hawai’i Time meeting - Archived

Hello Friends,

Happy New Year! May 2022 be a year of more health, peace and justice for everyone!

The New York Times Magazine’s award-winning 1619 Project reframes our understanding of American history by placing the legacy and consequences of slavery, along with the contributions of Black Americans, at the center of our national narrative. Pulitzer Prize winner reporter Nikole Hannah-Jones, who covers racial injustice for The New York Time Magazine, developed the 1619 Project, which is has recently been expanded into a book version entitled, The 1619 Project: A New Origin Story.

At the First Unitarian Church of Honolulu’s January 23, 2022, 11:30am-1:30pm Hawai’i Time ADORE (A Dialogue On Race and Ethnicity) meeting, we will discuss the Introduction by Nikole Hannah-Jones and Capitalism by Matthew Desmond.  Capitalism is one of the nineteen essays that make up the 1619 Project.

Before our January 23rd meeting, please read the Introduction and the essay, Capitalism. Here, you will find the links:
