Hello !

We are writing to ensure you are aware of the Unitarian Universalist Mental Health Network, a UU organization founded in 2018 that promotes mental health awareness, advocacy, and inclusion within the broader Unitarian Universalist community.

Our Mission and Vision

The mission of the UUMHN is to empower the Beloved Community to honor everyone’s unique mental health journey toward wellness. We envision a world where the Beloved Community is a place where all members feel welcomed, understood, and held in love; engages in respectful curiosity to understand emotional distress; welcomes open, authentic, and fearless sharing about mental health; and passionately commits to mental health justice.

What We Do

Education: We provide congregations with resources, workshops, and educational materials about mental health, reducing stigma, and supporting congregants and families affected by mental health challenges.

Worship: We organize webinars and special events to deepen understanding and foster more inclusive and welcoming congregational environments.

  • Online Mental Health Worship Service in May during Mental Health Awareness Month
  • Mental Health Sermons and Worship Resources, including a toolkit for children and youth.

Support Groups: We organize support circles and provide opportunities for connection among individuals living with and coping with mental health challenges, as well as those involved in mental health ministry, fostering networks of mutual support and learning.

  • Therapist-led Grief support group.
  • Peer-led LGBTQIA+ support group.

Social Justice: We raise awareness about mental health and strive to reduce the stigma associated with it. We advocate for mental health justice within and beyond our faith tradition, centering the voices of those with lived experience.

  • Collaborating with the Church of the Larger Fellowship to benefit incarcerated people
