Hawaii’s 1st Mental Health Café + Clinic for LGBTQIA+ Youth - Archived

Aloha First Unitarian Church of Honolulu,

First of all, I am truly inspired by your work to serve our state and support the LGTBQIA+ community. I know you are busy and I am not sure if you will receive this, but stepping out in faith for our keiki!

In honor of PRIDE month, we are on a mission to fight teen suicide in the LGBTQIA+ community. I know this is not publicized, but suicide is the LEADING cause of death for our Teen Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander youth in Hawaii (the risk doubles for LGBTQIA+). I’m a therapist and mom of a nonbinary kiddo, Mattie.

Mattie came up with the idea to create a safe space for LGBT+ youth–a Boba Cafe + Mental Health Clinic, “Spill The Tea Cafe.”  We are a 501c3 EIN: 863755416 start up, fighting the Youth Mental Health Crisis with the help of leaders in our community.

I’m hoping you could share our Youth Pride Fest fundraiser if you know anyone who could donate or help spread the word! Thank you again for your work in creating true change for our beautiful Aloha State!

SPONSOR A TEEN NOW (Tickets start at $10)

PS: Here’s a 2 min video regarding suicide in Hawaii. We hope that other states will join in creating similar cafes/clinics for our LGBTQIA+ youth!

Mahalo nui loa,
