Final Call for GA 2023 Program Proposals
|
Everyone is welcome to submit a proposal for either virtual or in-person programming for the 2023 Multi-platform General Assembly. The program proposal deadline is Friday, January 13. Presenters from historically and currently marginalized communities, including people of color and youth, are encouraged to apply. Proposed programs should provide meaningful opportunities for learning and skill development, as well as address one or more of the following focus areas:
- Becoming Adaptive and Resilient: Programs that equip congregations and leaders for these changing times. What is needed for congregations to nurture adaptive and resilient practices and to lean into change and experimentation. What new practices or programs are gaining momentum, engaging leaders, and fostering community for all ages, including children, youth, and families.
- Becoming Theologically Rooted: Create opportunities for people to engage and deepen their understanding of our liberating theology and how it can offer hope, resilience, and courage for these times.
- Becoming Skilled in Faithful Praxis: Opportunities to skill up in our justice work, to move beyond paternalism to partnership and solidarity in our justice work and to partner across congregations and nationally for change.
- Becoming Connected in Community: Opportunities to embody our community of communities through programs that bring people together around affinity and identity and theology for sustenance, relationships, care, and networking.

Final Call for GA 2023 Worship Proposals
|
Organizations, individuals, and/or worship leaders with experience and capacity to self-produce a complete, high-quality, 45-minute worship service, including music, should submit a worship proposal no later than Friday, January 13.
Proposals can be for a live worship (in-person or virtual) or for a fully pre-recorded video presentation. Select proposals will be featured in-person in Pittsburgh on Friday, June 23 and Saturday, June 24 at 11:00 a.m. EDT. These worship services can be either a live event or a live screening of a prerecorded service. These worship services will also stream live to virtual registrants. Other proposals will be selected to be fully prerecorded and made available for on-demand viewing.

The votes that GA delegates cast have a huge impact on Unitarian Universalism. They determine our elected leaders, amend the bylaws and rules that govern our Association, and shape the justice work that we do as a movement. If you are interested in serving as a delegate from your congregation, talk to your minister or your congregation’s governing body.
Delegates need to register for GA in order to vote on business and agenda items. Delegates have three options for participation:
- In-person registration is required for all live GA events and programming taking place in Pittsburgh. In-person registration includes access to virtual content available on the GA app, powered by Whova. In-person registration is the same process for delegates and non-delegates; delegates may register before or after determining their delegate status. General Assembly registration is required for all in-person participants, including in-person delegates.
- Full Virtual registration is required for access to virtual GA programming, including workshops, worship services, the Ware Lecture, featured speakers, Opening and Closing celebrations, exhibits, entertainment, and networking. Virtual GA programming will be streamed on the GA app, powered by Whova. Delegates will use the GA Delegate Platform for discussion and voting during General Sessions. Virtual registration is the same process for delegates and non-delegates; delegates may register before or after determining their delegate status.
- Business-only Virtual registration provides access to the GA Delegate Platform for discussion and voting during General Sessions. Payment is not required but a donation to offset production and platform costs is suggested. Business-only registrants will have access to delegate chat rooms but will not have access to GA programming, the GA app, networking opportunities, or the exhibit hall. GA delegates are strongly encouraged to register as Full Virtual Registrants.
