Flying to General Assembly? Make Sure Your ID is Ready!

An illustrated hand holds a driver’s license. A purple arrow points to a yellow star in the top right corner of the license, indicating that the ID is REAL ID-compliant. The license features a photo of a smiling person and sample text in place of real personal information.

If you’re planning to join us in Baltimore for UUA General Assembly 2025, it’s time to check your travel documents! Starting May 7, 2025, all air travelers in the U.S. will be required to present a REAL ID (or other TSA-approved identification) to pass through airport security.

Not sure if your ID is compliant? Look for a star in the upper corner of your driver’s license or state ID — that’s a quick indicator that it’s REAL ID-compliant. You can also visit the Department of Homeland Security website for details and to check if you’re ready to fly.

If your ID doesn’t meet the new federal standards, don’t wait! Visit your local DMV soon to update your documents and avoid last-minute stress.

Let’s make sure you’re ready to travel with ease — check your ID today and start planning your trip to GA 2025!

It’s that time when youth advisors, religious educators, and other generous souls start nailing down plans for bringing a group to GA — especially a group of youth and young adults. Join the Youth and Emerging Adult Team of Lifespan Faith Engagement, along with other professionals and peers, for a General Assembly Group Travel Q&A.

We’ll focus on the needs of youth group travel, with plenty of relevant insights for all group coordinators. A short presentation will cover what we know about the program so far and key safety considerations, followed by an open Q&A.

New Format for the 2025 Congregational Recognition & Banner Parade

Two photos of Unitarian Universalist congregations carrying colorful banners during the UUA General Assembly’s Banner Parade. The top photo shows people walking down a carpeted aisle holding banners from Towson, MD; Silver Spring, MD; Anchorage, AK; and others. The bottom photo shows a crowd carrying banners, with Winchester Unitarian Society and Statesboro prominently featured. Between the photos, a teal banner with a multicolored border reads: "Submit your congregation's banner TODAY for the Virtual Banner Parade!"

As we prepare for General Assembly 2025, we’re excited to introduce a fresh take on one of our most beloved traditions: the Banner Parade. This year, we’re expanding it into a multi-platform Congregational Recognition & Banner Parade, giving more congregations the chance to participate, whether in-person or online. It’s a new way to celebrate the diversity, unity, and spirit of our association!

Congregations can submit up to two high-resolution images — a photo of their banner and/or a group photo — for inclusion in GA videos and exhibits. These images will showcase the vibrancy of our congregations both during and after GA. And for those attending in person, bring your banner to Baltimore! Banners will be displayed throughout the Convention Center, creating a visible tapestry of the community we share.

Let’s continue to honor this tradition while embracing new ways to connect. We look forward to seeing your photos, banners, and community spirit at GA 2025!

Before You Go: A Blessing in Song

As we move through these times, may we center ourselves in compassion — for ourselves, for one another, and for all beings. We invite you to pause and receive this musical blessing: Filled with Loving Kindness, a beautiful setting of the Buddhist Metta prayer, taught, sung, and accompanied by Mark David Buckles.

Watch here on Vimeo, and may we all be filled with loving kindness, may we be well, may we be peaceful and at ease, and may we be happy.

David Buckles sits at a piano, wearing a lavender shirt, with books, sheet music, and colorful artwork in the background. He gestures with one hand as if inviting the viewer to sing along. A play button overlay is centered on the image, indicating this is a video link.
This is an image of a diverse group of people gathered at the General Assembly Sunday Worship. Many individuals in the crowd display solemn or reflective expressions, with some having their hands open in a gesture of openness or prayer, while others place their hands over their hearts. The participants wear various styles of clothing, including event badges and lanyards, indicating they are part of an organized gathering. The atmosphere suggests a moment of collective reflection, worship, or solidarity.
