On Sunday, February 25th, 11:30am – 2:00pm, the A.D.O.R.E. (A Dialogue On Race and Ethnicity) group will watch and discuss the film “The Road To Freedom: The Vernon Johns Story.” Vernon Johns (April 22, 1892-June 11,1965) (James Earl Jones) was a pioneer in the civil rights movement and he is best known as pastor (1947-52) of Montgomery, Alabama’s Dexter Avenue Baptist Church. Ahead of his time, Reverend Johns gave highly controversial and outspoken sermons on race relations, which helped pave the way for 26-year-old Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., who succeeded him as pastor of the Dexter Avenue Church.
Pizza at $3.00 for two slices and free childcare upstairs will be provided. All are welcome!
