Families at GA: A Multigenerational Experience

General Assembly is designed to be a welcoming and accessible experience for families, creating space for multigenerational engagement and connection. Families with children are encouraged to participate in GA events together, and children who have not yet entered high school (or its equivalent) may attend at no cost. There’s no cost to register or cancel a child attending with a parent or guardian!

When you register your child as a “Child with Parent,” you’re letting us know that they’ll stay under your supervision throughout the event. To register, simply add a “Guest Child (0-14)” to your adult registration (step 4 on the form).

Need professional supervision? Our Children’s Programs are available with advance registration and payment—see details below!

Resources for Families at GA

A diverse group of attendees sits on the floor in a large conference hall, engaged in conversation while watching a speaker on stage. A young child with colorful beaded braids sits between two adults, who appear attentive. The audience is seated in rows of chairs, and a large screen displays a speaker addressing the gathering. The atmosphere suggests an inclusive, multigenerational setting.

Whole Church in the General Session Hall

GA’s Whole Church initiative provides a family-friendly space in the General Session Hall, where tables will be designated for families with young children. This area offers games, activities, and opportunities for families to connect—and even share in the care of children. This space will be available during all General Session Hall programming, including General Sessions, the Service of the Living Tradition, Synergy, the Ware Lecture, and Sunday Morning Worship. Whole Church is spearheaded by the UUA’s Lifespan Faith Engagement staff group and will be facilitated by a volunteer.

Family Cohort: Connecting Families at GA

A dedicated volunteer will coordinate a Family Cohort (a meetup group) for families with young children, providing opportunities for connection and support. The coordinator will help families engage through a dedicated community space on the GA app, host a pre-GA online meet-and-greet, and schedule in-person gatherings during GA. Families may choose to eat meals together, sit together at GA events, or explore Baltimore as a group.

Children’s Programs at GA

Families seeking childcare options can register for the Children’s Program, which provides a safe, engaging space for children during GA. The program, managed by Pittsburgh (yes, Pittsburgh) Event Childcare, is available for $300 per child (four days, lunch and snacks) or $75 per half-day (snacks). Financial support is available.

Deeper Joy: Faith Exploration for Middle Schoolers

As part of the GA 2025 childcare program, middle school youth will have the opportunity to participate in Deeper Joy, a faith-based curriculum offered Thursday through Saturday. This evolving program incorporates games, songs, activities, and spiritual practices designed to nurture inclusive, multigenerational communities.

Rather than focusing on hard work, Deeper Joy emphasizes play—an essential practice for navigating the complexities of life, especially in today’s world. The program will be facilitated by Jennifer Blosser, DRE, from the UU Fellowship of Harford County in Churchville, Maryland.

Before You Go: A Look Back at the 2024 GA Sunday Service

We invite you to take a moment to reflect on the power of music to unite and inspire, as illustrated durning the 2024 GA Sunday Service. Featuring the moving anthem “Here Together” by David M. Glasgow, this worship experience wove together voices from Unitarian Universalist congregations across the country, reminding us of the strength we find in community and shared song.

Choirs from diverse UU congregations—stretching from Indiana to Georgia, Michigan to Massachusetts, and beyond—came together to create something truly special. Their voices lifted us, calling us into deeper connection and collective hope.

Let this music stay with you. Let it remind you that wherever you are, you are part of a greater whole—a community bound by love, justice, and the promise of being here together.

May this inspiration carry you forward until we meet again at GA 2025!

A family with a baby is seated on a stage with a blue curtain backdrop. The mother, wearing a yellow shirt and holding a Minnie Mouse plush toy, is smiling while the baby, dressed in a pink skirt and white shirt, reaches out joyfully. The father, in a plaid blue shirt with a conference name badge, is holding the baby and a small pink gift bag. Two women, one in a blue top and the other in a black polka dot dress, are standing nearby, interacting with the family. One of them is holding a piece of paper.
