The Housing Now! Task Force leads Faith Action in promoting access to affordable housing throughout our state. Recently, the Task Force took a stand in support of the proposed Kawainui Affordable Rental Project in Kailua. This project has proved very controversial, even within the unit members of Faith Action. Consequently, Task Force Co-Chair Keith Webster initiated a series of five interactive sessions on Zoom, providing opportunities for dialog among supporters, opponents, and those who just sought to gain more information about the project.Based on our experience with this project in Kailua, the Housing Task Force is offering a second series of Zoom-based interactive dialogs about the broader issue of access to affordable housing statewide. What have we learned from experience? How do we respond to NIMBY-ism? What good ideas can help us move forward? These dialogs will occur daily from Tuesday, July 21, through Saturday, July 25, from 3–3:30 pm. Participation in any or all sessions is open to members of Faith Action units and their invited guests.The Zoom link is below.
