Faith Action Message for April 16-17 - Archived

Prayer for the Season

In the face of war, fear, death, and despair, we lose our way. Our shadows become stumbling blocks to our compassion, our fear barriers to our kindness. Soften our hearts for the pain of others.   Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

In the disorientation of tribal violence, we become quick to label and even quicker to judge. Neighbors turn on neighbors; friends turn on friends. We lose our connection. Open our eyes to the humanity of others.    Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

In the reality of a changing climate, we feel overwhelmed to set a new course. Our problems seem intractable; the world’s destruction seems inevitable. We become paralyzed. Challenge our dispair and move us to action.    Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Gentle Spirit, guide us this day. Soften our hearts, open our eyes, and move us to action. Let us work together to shape a more loving world.

Amen.
