Join Our Upcoming Programs. We are excited to announce our upcoming events this month, including a conversation on “Uncovering Unseen Labor” and our Monthly Reads meet-up. Join us for these engaging programs and be part of the conversation!

Our Monthly Reads meet-up allows an entry point into our priority issues and supports individuals looking to build on their understanding to be better allies and co-conspirators. Join us in experiencing some of the latest award-winning books, life-changing articles, and dazzling other media as we use these tools for justice. This month, we are reading an interview with author Kate Manne about her book “Entitled”.

Conversations are a way for experts to bring their knowledge base into our community. Centering our monthly theme, we’ll have an open dialogue with two or three women/gender-expansive people on how their lives intersect with the monthly topic. This month, we are highlighting the challenges of caregiving and domestic labor that goes unseen by women. We welcome Rev. Latifah Griffin and Rev. Joyce Palmer to our September Conversation.

Join us as we kick off the BWC 2024-2025 program year and theme: Expanding the Possibilities of Black Joy and Excellence. This year welcome all Black Women UU Faith Professionals to the BWC table- all year, every event, forever more! As we live into our theme, Black Women of the Chalice is now supported by a newly formed Leadership Council- to learn more about who and tier dedication to Black Women.

Our first gathering will feature Nicole Pressley, Director of the Organizing Strategy Team for the UUA, to focus on the possibilities of Black women’s electoral power in this historical moment.

Community Gatherings are a safe, women and gender-expansive space to grow and learn from our wider community of activists, advocates, allies, and co-conspirators. Each month, we highlight a different topic and uplift the voices of women around the country as we discuss issues of the day, strategize about work we’re doing, and get perspective and inspiration from each other.

DATE RESCHEDULE!  Our workshop series is a way for members to deepen their activism and organizing. This month, Ann will walk us through the Social Change Ecosystem. The Social Change Ecosystem Framework, developed by Deepa Iyer in 2017, is a tool to clarify values, identify roles, and support justice activism work. It identifies 10 roles that contribute to social change and can be useful at the personal, organizational, or collaborative level. What roles do you most often take? What role does your organization take? Do we all have to be in the streets with protest signs in order to contribute to the movement for collective liberation? This workshop is an introduction to the Framework and a discussion about its application in UU contexts.
