Exterior Paint Job Starting in June!Â
Which sample of wall and trim colors do you like the best? Please visit the church garden (outside the back door) to compare the wall and trim colors. After much discussion, the Building and Grounds Committee decided to add more samples. The latest are on the right side, all three are hues of gray and have an LRV (Light Reflective Value) of 58. It is recommended that exterior paint have an LRV of 55 or greater in Hawaii due to the high UV exposure. The higher the LRV, the less likely the paint is to blister and peel. The earlier samples were all in the 30 LRV range and not recommended for our exposed location.Â
The two samples that gathered the most favorable reviews were Silver Strand (B) and Repose Gray (C). Trim colors have been added to the B and C samples. The idea is to use a trim color on the half-round that separates the walls from the brick foundation, the decorative roof trim, and the windows and door trims. The brick and soffits would remain white. Because the former wall color had a lot of blue in it, the gray samples don’t even appear gray. Color is like magic! Â
