Host a Community Gathering for GA 2026

Overhead view of people seated in a circle with hands extended toward the center, overlaid with the text “GA 2026 Community Gatherings,” representing shared participation and local community connection.General Assembly 2026 will be experienced in many places at once. One meaningful way to participate is to gather locally. Alongside the Studio Site and Satellite Sites, congregations are invited to host Community Gatherings where registered participants can experience GA together. A gathering can be large or small. Some communities may organize meals and discussions. Others may simply open a room to watch worship or a few sessions together.Community Gatherings make it possible to participate in GA while staying rooted in local community life, sharing conversation and connection while joining the same Assembly taking place online across the continent. You might host just for your own congregation, invite neighboring congregations, or welcome anyone interested in experiencing GA in community.Sunday Morning Worship is open to the public and may include anyone, whether or not they are registered for GA. All other programming requires GA registration for each participant.

If your congregation is planning to host a gathering, or even thinking about a watch party, please let us know. Complete the Community Gathering Sign-Up Form so we can understand where people are gathering, support your planning, and help others find local opportunities to participate.

How Viewing Works

Sunday Morning Worship will be available publicly on UUA.org and the UUA’s channel on YouTube. All other GA programming is accessed through the GA App and requires registration. Registrants can log in from any web browser, making it easy to project sessions onto a larger screen for group viewing. In most cases, hosting is as simple as connecting a laptop to a monitor or projector and streaming the session together.

Why Community Gatherings Matter

General Assembly has always been about more than watching programs. It is about being together. Community Gatherings create space for conversation after worship, shared reactions to speakers, and the kinds of connections that form when people experience GA side by side. They extend the Assembly into congregations and communities everywhere.

We hope many congregations will consider hosting in whatever way feels manageable.

One Assembly, Many Locations

We may not be gathering in one convention center, but GA remains a shared experience.Participants across the country watch the same worship services, hear the same speakers, and take part in the same conversations at the same time. Satellite Sites and local gatherings offer face-to-face connection, while online spaces allow people to respond together in real time.

This year we are quite literally meeting the moment together everywhere, joining from wherever we are. Each location brings its own community and perspective, while remaining part of one shared Assembly.

The format changes. The sense of gathering together does not.

Connecting Online at GA

Attending online does not mean attending alone. So what does connection actually look like when you’re participating online?

Participants can join live chats during sessions, take part in conversations in the Community section of the GA App powered by Whova, and connect through scheduled virtual meetups and affinity gatherings throughout the week.

The GA app also makes it easy to visit virtual exhibitors, explore resources, and start conversations with organizations and partners connected to the Assembly. Many exhibitors host their own meetups or offer opportunities to connect directly with representatives during GA.

Some participants coordinate informal meetups with friends, covenant groups, or colleagues during breaks in the schedule, and some congregations host shared viewing times even if they are not official Satellite Sites.

Connection often happens in small moments between sessions as much as during them.

There are many ways to take part in General Assembly, depending on what works best for you and your community.

  1. You can join online from home and participate in live sessions as they happen.
  2. You can attend a Satellite Site, where a congregation hosts a shared local experience connected to GA programming.
  3. You can gather with others through a Community Gathering, whether that is a single watch party or a full weekend of shared participation.
  4. You can attend in person at the Studio Site at the Galt House in Louisville, the largest in-person gathering of the Assembly and the location where worship and major GA moments are produced and shared with participants everywhere.
  5. You can explore learning opportunities through live and on-demand programs in the EduCenter.
  6. Or you can combine approaches, joining live events when you can and watching recordings later.

There is no single right way to attend GA. Participate in the way that fits your schedule, energy, and community.
