Book Group Selections for May and June

Did you know we have a Book Group?

The UU-HNL “Page Turners” meet on Zoom 1st Wednesdays of each month from 4:00 – 5:30 pm (shifting to 2nd Wednesdays beginning in May).  We read a wide selection of both fiction and non-fiction with the requirement that the book either be available in the library or very inexpensive used. To join our zoom discussion email James Skouge.

Selections for coming months:

MAY 14, 2025 (shift to 2nd Wed)

“The Bookshop: A History of the American Bookstore,” by Evan Friss

The Bookshop is a love letter to bookstores, a charming chronicle for anyone who cherishes these sanctuaries of literature, and essential reading to understand how these vital institutions have shaped American life—and why we still need them.  [NOTE that there is another book with same title]

JUNE 11, 2025 (2nd Wed of month)

“The Instrumentalist,” by Harriet Constable

The story of one woman’s irrepressible ambition and rise to the top. It is also the story of the orphans of Venice who overcame destitution and abuse to make music, and whose contributions to some of the most important works of classical music, including “The Four Seasons,” have been overlooked for too long.
