Board Meeting in Brief – January 11, 2024Â
The Board…Â
Reviewed the SHARE THE PLATE RECOMMENDED SCHEDULE FOR 2024 from the Social Justice Council.
Most recipients are the same with the exception of two new organizations: Pacific Gateway Center (immigrant assistance) and Ho’ala Na Pua (healing for children of sex trafficking).Â
Reviewed the revised SHARE THE PLATE POLICY
The policy will be presented to the Social Justice Council for review and feedback.Â
Approved a PROPOSAL FOR FINAL $2000 PAYMENT TO REV. MYKAL SLACK.
This completes payment of our renegotiated contract with Rev. Slack.Â
Discussed our recent conversation with representatives of an Oakland UU congregation about their experience with HOPE FOR US, our UUA Conflict Engagement Team. We also discussed contacting a local chapter of ATTITUDINAL HEALING INTERNATIONAL and looking into a conference, HO’OMAU KE ALOHA, being offered very close by in February.
We are considering enlisting the guidance of Hope For Us in repairing and healing congregational relationships.Â

- Nominating will be asking all board members about their willingness to continue to serve and then start lining up a slate for Fiscal Year 2024/25.Â
- Social Justice reported that we will be participating in the Martin Luther King Day March on Monday, January 15. They are also working on a grant from the UUA for aid to Lahaina.Â
