Board Meeting Postponed! After last week’s newsletter was published, the Board decided to postpone the Board meeting to Tuesday, Jan 27, at 6:30 pm on Zoom. It was not feasible to attempt a meeting after the ACLU event on Tuesday, January 20, the Board’s normal meeting date. Sorry for the confusion in the newsletter.
Town Hall is coming up! Save the date – Sunday, February 1, after church at 11:30 am. The Building and Grounds committee will discuss what we have learned about our schefflera (umbrella tree) hedge from our long-time tree arborist and trimmer, and take a temperature check about the options. Our Minister also has exciting ideas to share about the website format. We also will be gathering signatures for the Compassionate Release bill. See in separate news item.
Did you notice that the ideas discussed about the use of sanctuary space at the November town hall resulted in the relocation of Sov Ma’arav’s ark container and table to the other side of the sanctuary, and the choir is now seated to the right of the speaker’s podium, where we can see and hear them better?! The next step will be to reposition the piano so the pianist and choir director can make better visual contact.
Work Party Needs Your Helping Hands! Put Saturday, February 7, from 2 – 5 pm on your calendar. This is one of the best times to make new friends and hang out afterwards with beverages and Molly Rowland’s famous chocolate chip cookies. We will generate a list of what needs to be done for the next newsletter.
MLK Day Parade Recap: Mahalo to all members and friends who walked or rode The Interfaith Alliance trolley in the Martin Luther King parade. The weather was perfect, cooled by the cloud cover. The spectator turnout was excellent. Our slot was #4 in the parade, which contributed to our being the focus of hundreds of phone and camera videos! It also meant we finished up within an hour or so. Those at the parade were Marie Anne, Francine Less, Leanne MacIntyre, Kay Armstrong, Carla Allison, Lester Steifel, and Sue Yamane-Carpenter. Alice Talbott, a friend of the church, was the Parade Grand Marshal. There may have been other members and friends at the parade, whom we didn’t see.
Website calendar: Check the church website’s calendar frequently to keep up with events and changes. The calendar tab is at the top of the Home page and does not require you to log in.
