💖 5/21 Mothering The Movement Event 💖

05/08/2026/by Suzette Tom

Dear UUWF Community,

One aspect of mothering I know all too well is getting everyone right where they need to be. As a mom of two, making it on time to the next practice or game all depends on whether it’s on the calendar.

I also know that when it comes to what I need, those are the moments I can say, “I’ll get to it later.” I can let everything I want to watch or listen to be at the bottom of my priority list.

Let this invitation be different.

Thursday, May 21st
4:30 pm PST / 5:30 pm MST / 6:30 pm CST / 7:30 m EST

THIS EVENT IS OPEN TO ALL GENDERS, AND WE WELCOME MEMBERS, ALLIES, AND FRIENDS ALIKE

JOIN US ON MAY 21ST

UUWF is changing the narrative and talking about all the ways we mother and hold space for what’s important in our lives. Whether it’s children, community building, local actions, or movement spaces, our labor changes all that we touch.

Join us on May 21st to uplift two movement workers, the Rev. Denise Graves and the Rev. Ranwa Hammamy, as we talk about what it means to mother the movement across all aspects of our lives.

We celebrate the transformative power of mothering, and invite you to join us in mothering the movement for collective liberation.

The Rev. Denise Graves (she/her) is a womanist committed to the shalom/peace in self, with others, and with the universe, utilizing Peace Ministry LLC & Institute as a medium. She is a community pastor, culture bearer, educator, healer, author, consultant, parent, and friend. Her sheroes include Paula Giddings, bell hooks, presidential candidate Shirley Chisolm, Rep. Barbara Jordon, Dr. Gloria Scott, and Pixie Lighthorse. Denise loves culture exploration and immersion, roller skating, preaching, and playing board games. At one point in life, she wanted to sing like Diana Ross.

The Rev. Ranwa Hammamy (they/she) is the Congregational Justice Organizer with the UUA’s Organizing Strategy Team, where they support congregations in developing sustainable, faith-rooted justice ministries aligned with the Side with Love Campaign’s intersectional justice priorities. She previously served as the Executive Director of the UU Justice Ministry of California and as a hospital & elder care chaplain. Rev. Ranwa currently resides in Oakland, California, and is a community minister affiliated with Mt. Diablo UU Church in Walnut Creek, California.

Feel free to share this invitation with others in your network, and we look forward to being in community with all of you.

In Community,

Antoinette Hollamon (they/them/theirs)
Membership and Community Engagement Specialist
