ICYMI: Rev. Lauren Levwood Named Executive Director

Earlier this month, we shared a letter announcing the hiring of Rev. Lauren Levwood as the Executive Director of Unitarian Universalist Ministry for Earth.

“This past year has been one of renewal for us, and under Lauren’s touch, numerous programs have come alive and flourished. As a result, our community has been strengthened and our future feels bright.” – Swamini Saraswati

Welcoming Rev. Doug McCusker to UUMFE Board

Please join us in welcoming Rev. Doug to the UUMFE board! Rev. Douglas McCusker (he/him) is a retired Unitarian Universalist minister who served two congregations: UU Congregation of Rockville, MD and the UU Fellowship of Fredericksburg, VA. He led a Unitarian Universalist group at a men’s prison in Virginia for eight years. He received his Master of Divinity from Meadville Lombard Theological School and was ordained in 2014. Currently, he leads the worship service once a month at All Souls UU in Greenfield, MA. Before heeding the call to ministry, he had a 30-year career as a cartographic systems engineer for the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency. He also served on the Board and was the Congregational President of Accotink UU Church in Burke, VA. As a volunteer with the Southeastern UU Summer Institute (SUUSI) he is on the Nature Staff as a Shin-rin Yoku (Forest Bathing) guide and on the Nurture Staff as a conflict mediator of the Healthy Relations Team. He is also an assistant trainer at the School of Outdoor Mindfulness at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health. He lives with his spouse, Marie Lipscombe in North Adams, MA., and is a member of the UU Fellowship of Bennington, VT.

Thank you, Chelsea!

Gratitude to our First Intern Chaplain, Chelsea McCoy

It is with great joy that we celebrate the vital ministry that UUMFE’s first Climate Justice Movement Chaplain Intern and Clinical Pastoral Education student, Chelsea McCoy, brought to us this year. Chelsea came to us as a Master of Divinity student at Naropa University, a Buddhist school located in Boulder, Colorado. To our organization, Chelsea brought depth, relationality, authenticity, revolutionary optimism, and a love that was contagious. Each and every person that has connected with Chelsea over the last six months has been made better for it.

And, while we wish her well in her future pursuits and say goodbye to Chelsea as an intern, we are thrilled to announce that she will stay on with UUMFE for our monthly Full Moon Gatherings, which she has become an integral part of.

We wish you all the best, Chelsea! Thank you for being our first chaplain intern and setting the stage for more goodness to come.

Seeking_Board_Treasurer.png

We’re Looking for a New Board Treasurer

UUMFE is looking for a Treasurer to begin as soon as possible. This is a Board-level volunteer role requiring about 10 hours per month. Ideally this person will have finance experience in a small business or non-profit and can explain financial opportunities and issues to the Board and the ED in a clear manner, as well as work with our part-time paid bookkeeper. Please email current Treasurer at treasurer@uumfe.org.
